52nd Annual Steuben Day Parade, GERMAN-AMERICAN PARADE UP 5TH AVE.
(L to R) Debbie Thompson, Megan Maxson and Massi Decarolis lead us up 5th Ave.
TRADITIONS WERE ABOUNDING AT OUR ANNUAL PARADE
The tradition of our Annual Steuben Day Parade dates back to the 1960's.
Traditions like how we never charge for our collation. All are welcome.
The tradition of beautiful weather. In the last 20 years we only had bad weather twice. The tradition of having our families ride the many apparatus that show up for the parade. This year we were short by two, but we did get a rear mount and a pumper. The tradition of serving German Food and enjoying fine German Beer at our Collation. We always have a German Band come down to our Hall, and they finally showed up but they were late. Only 100 people were left and since they did not show till 5:00pm, well they had to leave by 6:00pm. They did perform a few numbers before we had to leave. So all traditions were honored.
Think about this: Our Parade was and is still one of the best Parades out there.
Our collation is above and beyond.
Our 50/50 winner won $700.00. We had two Iraqi War Vets join us and a Federal Police Officer, all were from Virginia. As always we sold t-shirts and other items. And even the new kids helped with serving the food.
Many thanks goes out to Jerry Carmosin, Brian Bittrolff, John Rohr,
Bobby Ryall and Charlie Messemer.
Their hard work and dedication really shows in the end product.
Now with any further ado... the pictures. [FYI: Next year the band that was with us last year will try to be at the Hall in 2010, (we will keep you posted)
so think about coming to the best party ever!]
