we thank all of our members on our e-mail list for their cooperation. only 22 members who have e-mail still prefer the newsletter the old fashioned way-snail mail! the rest want it in their e-mail box-we will oblige. THE FRATERNAL ORGANIZATION DUES SELF SERVICE PROGRAM

WE WILL BE SENDING OUT THE FORM TO OUR RETIRED MEMBERS THIS MONTH. ACTIVE MEMBERS CAN JOIN VIA THEIR ESS ACCOUNT IN NOVEMBER.

SOME OF YOU MIGHT ASK,
"WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR ME TO JOIN THE STEUBENS?

FOR THE OFFICIAL LIST OF CHARTER MEMBERS SCROLL DOWN BELOW...

ANOTHER PHONE CALL FROM PAUL ZYDOR INFORMED ME OF HIS CHARTER MEMBER STATUS. HE STARTED IN LADDER 10, WHEN IT WAS A SINGLE TRUCK ON FULTON & CHURCH STREETS. HE RECALLED BATTLING THE "RATS", BECAUSE THERE WERE SO MANY RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA. HE ALSO SAID THEY NEVER WENT COLD IN THE WINTER BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF STEAM PIPES THAT TRAVELED THROUGH THE BASEMENT. THE FIREHOUSE WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT FOR HORSES HAD TO HAVE AN EXTENTION PUT ON THE BACK TO ACCOMMODATE THE AERIAL LADDER TRUCK. HE REMEMBERS MARCHING IN THE FIRST PARADE IN 1957, HE CAME ON THE JOB IN '56.
THANKS FOR THE INFO PAUL....LOVE TO HEAR FROM MORE OF YOU...

CHARTER MEMBERS
Here it is, the Official List of Charter Members:

*We just received a letter from the Family of Robert Koeth, who was an original member of the Steuben Association, joining in 1963. They informed us of his passing on 1/27/17. They wanted to make sure he was included on this list and now he is. We sent our belated and heartfelt condolences to the Koeth Family.
In the letter his son, Jim remarked on how he so loved his trip to Germany
in 1985 with the Steuben's. He spoke of this while in the nursing home just
before his passing. Bob served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and then after 3 years in the Post Office he spent 30 years in the FDNY and ended
it up as the Capt of Ladder 80 in Staten Island. We will all miss him.
Thank You for your letter.
Sincerely,
Dave Schleyer-President FDNY Steuben Association*
