2012 STEUBEN ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
(To Apply for the 2013 scholarship-click here)
I just graduated from Locust Valley High School and will be attending Binghamton University in the fall. I plan on majoring in the sciences, specifically Neuroscience. I love psychology and math and plan to enroll under a Pre-vet track. I've always been interested in wildlife. I love to help people, so a Pre-med track is possible as well. I want to either go to veterinary school or medical school after my undergraduate education. I want to be able to help people or animals in a way I could pursue my interests in the sciences and mathematics. I also cannot pursue a career where I'm not making a difference, so helping poverty stricken areas with a medical degree or saving animals from brutal conditions is something I look forward to. I have and will always been interested in helping people and animals and
will continue doing so in the future.
Thank You for awarding me this Scholarship.
My name is Laura Banker and I graduated from Archbishop Molloy H.S. in Queens. I am very honored to have received this scholarship and know that it will help me when I attend The University of Alabama in the fall. Roll tide! At Alabama I will be majoring in Political Sciences with a minor in Criminal Justice
and when I get older I hope to be in the FBI.
My name is Bryan Rhodes and I graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, New York in June, 2012. I will be attending Cornell University in the Fall where I would like to major in Engineering. I enjoy studying Math and Physics. In high school, I was captain of the Football and Track and Field Teams. At Cornell, I will be a member of the Varsity Track and Field Team where I will be participating in the events known as the Hammer Throw
and the Weight Throw.
Andrea Archul is the daughter of Steuben Association member FF. Charles Archul of Ladder 14. She graduated from Clarkstown South High School in West Nyack, NY this past spring. There, she was a three year varsity volleyball player and also volunteered and enjoyed many other school sponsored activities. Although during high school her favorite subject was always history, she is still not sure what she plans to major in while attending Roger Williams University
in Bristol, RI this fall.
Andrea would like to thank her family for their continuing support and a special thanks to the
FDNY Steuben Association for this award and
especially Bill Schillinger!
My name is Robert John Schmuck.I graduated from Our Lady of Mercy R.C. School in Forest Hills on June 15, 2012.
I will be attending Archbishop Molloy High School in September where I received two awards, one for music and the other for athletics. I enjoy sports, where I look forward to playing baseball (my favorite sport) for Molloy. Soccer and basketball are my other favorites. I will be attending basketball camp in August at Syracuse College, and soccer camp for Molloy. My other interest is music. I play acoustic and electric guitar, and have played in concerts and talent shows at Our Lady of Mercy. Although I intend on playing sports through out high school and college, my hope is to become an E.R. doctor and serve in the United States Marine Corps. My uncles all served in the military and have long since retired. My uncle Daniel Fennell is in the FDNY in
Staten Island. I have a younger brother Thomas (12)
and my father, Robert P. Schmuck is retired from the FDNY
where he served for 23 years at Engine 33 / Ladder 9
(Bowery Boys) in Manhattan.
My mom, Peggy Anne is currently a stay at home mom!
I wish to thank the FDNY Steuben Society for the opportunity to help me achieve my goals for the future!!!
It is an honor for me and one I will never forget!!!!!!!
